The garden and grounds at Stone Hearst made it an easy choice for us. We loved the natural, home-like setting, with flowers, rocks, and uneven paths, though it isn't set up as a fully formal venue, so pointy heels aren't a good fit. The house is lovely but small for a big event; it can host the families overnight. For a large rainy-season party, several smaller tents may be more practical than trying to cover one big area. It also makes a beautiful place for pre-wedding photos. We held our wedding there on July 14, 2018, with 140 guests. Bringing catering and a bar from the mainland made the island logistics complicated, but we really wanted to celebrate there. Mark, the owner and builder, was flexible during planning and bought extra dishes when our guest count went beyond the estimate. He can be hard to reach sometimes, but he does eventually sort things out. When a friend asked him to take a photo of him and his girlfriend, Mark said the best view was from above the garden, then climbed onto the roof to take the pictures. We were very happy to share our wedding with Mark and would gladly recommend Stone Hearst. We still love seeing the place in our wedding photos and videos.

The dinner was a highlight of our elopement at Stonehearst. Chef Jonathan Ducquette served six imaginative, carefully made courses using local and seasonal ingredients. We chose the surprise menu, and every course was a treat. We stayed overnight in the villa as part of an elopement package that also included photos, dinner, flowers, cake, and more. Michael and Mark had thought through so many little details that the day felt relaxed and easy. Mark was generous and attentive without getting in the way, sharing helpful information about the property and island, lighting a fire on a rainy day, and turning on the heated floors for our return. Lots of small gestures made the stay comfortable and memorable. We were the first wedding booked at the property in 2019, on May 25, and the gardens were already beautifully arranged and well cared for early in the season. Our visit felt magical, and we could focus on each other. We couldn't have asked for more and would recommend a wedding or elopement there. Mark, the owner, and Michael, the coordinator, took great care of us.

Waking up here, all you hear is birdsong. It's a cozy spot among the trees, with a lovely stone garden and fountains, and the service was great.
