Best Western Plus Airport Inn & Suites

We booked three rooms in advance for three families, but had trouble with both the website and the 800 number, so we called the hotel directly. We reserved two double queen rooms and one queen room. On 18 December, I arrived a little before the 3 o’clock check-in time. I wasn’t greeted, and was told the rooms weren’t ready yet. They did let the kids use the pool while we waited, which we appreciated. But after 3, when the rest of our group arrived, we found we’d been given two single queen rooms and one double queen room instead of what we booked. The pool was decent and the hot tub was hot, but it was full of foam. I didn’t see any anti-foam nearby or a pool attendant to add some. Our rooms were very clean, and the beds were decent, although the rooms were extremely dry. We’d also reserved three spots for the park and shuttle service for our vehicles. We were travelling as three families and catching flights before 4 am. We returned on Dec 26 from a warm destination and had left our winter gear with the vehicles. It was extremely cold, even for Canadians. Around 10:30 PM, we called the shuttle, which arrived fairly quickly. I went with my elderly parents, one of our three children, and a lot of luggage. My mother has aphasia. My father has Parkinson’s, has parts of both feet amputated due to diabetes, and can barely walk on his own because of rods in his spine. At the hotel, I went inside to confirm the rooms, pay, and get keys. I saw my parents struggling with the luggage while the driver came into the building empty-handed. He drove off with the shuttle, then parked it. I went out to carry some bags, and when I went back for another load, I saw the shuttle parked. The driver came inside empty-handed again and went into the office behind the front desk. I helped my parents in, brought in the luggage, and got them to their room. When I asked the desk attendant what was going on, she said the driver was being verbally abused. I asked what had happened and she replied, “The shuttle is a courtesy.” I said I’d paid for that courtesy, and she argued with me about it too. I asked to speak with a manager right then; she said there wasn’t one. I asked her to call one, but she refused. I said I wanted to speak to one in the morning. I collected the rest of our group from the airport. We ordered pizza, ate in the rooms, and settled the kids, and by then it was well after 1 am. The next morning, my dad told me what had happened with the driver. He said the driver was throwing our bags out of the shuttle and onto the ground. Dad asked him to stop, but he kept doing it. The driver went inside and came back out, and when Dad asked why he hadn’t taken anything in, the driver went off about not getting respect. He could have handled the luggage more gently and respectfully. Please see the other tabs, I couldn’t put it all in here.

We were a family of five, and the room had plenty of supplies, including extra sheets and pillows. Having a kitchen with extra pots and pans was a great bonus. Everything exceeded what we expected, and I’d give it 10 stars if I could. The breakfast room felt a bit small for the number of people, but the server was amazing and took care of everyone so courteously. She deserves a raise.

We chose this hotel for its location near the airport and the park and shuttle service. We were a large group travelling with children and elderly family members. At 4 am, we discovered the front desk had only written down two people for the shuttle, though our group had 11. On our return from vacation, the front desk was rude again, and the shuttle wouldn’t come back for the rest of us. We had to take a different shuttle and walk the rest of the way to get our vehicles. It was very disappointing, and we won’t stay again.

The bedding was actually clean, which I loved, and the hotel was perfect for getting to the airport. There was some noise, and the curtains weren’t blackout, but those were only minor discomforts. I’d definitely choose this hotel again.
