Travelodge Hotel Saskatoon

We had a great New Year’s stay. The hotel is busy, but easy to find and has plenty of free parking. Our two adjoining poolside rooms gave us easy access to the pool, waterslides, and splash park. They were noisy while the pool was open, but things got quieter at 10 pm when it closed. Kids having fun is a good kind of noise! The rooms and hotel are dated, though renovations are underway. Staff were cheerful, professional, and eager to help.

The room was clean and big enough for our family of three. My son also loved having a door straight to the pool area and water park. Staff were really friendly and helpful. This was the best hotel we’d stayed at so far on our long road trip from New Brunswick to Edmonton.

Our kids, aged 7 and 2, had a blast in the pools. The space room was fun too, and very clean. It has a black light that makes it feel like you’re on a spaceship. Turn the lights off and look up, the ceiling looks amazing, like outer space! We’d stayed in the ocean room before and had fun there as well, but it wasn’t as clean as this one. Really enjoyed our stay. A few more outlets would help, since there aren’t many places to charge a phone.

The biggest letdown was the service. At more than $200 a night over Easter weekend, I expected clearer directions and better communication. At check-in, our family of four got one key and no instructions for finding the room, so we wandered for 15 minutes. Staff also pointed vaguely when we asked about the pool and fitness centre, and finding either felt like a maze. We called the front desk and housekeeping several times for extra towels since there were only two in the room. It took ages to get an answer, and then we were told to collect them ourselves. At the desk, staff even asked why we needed more. The fitness centre needed a separate key, which nobody had mentioned, and two of its six machines were broken. Food was overpriced for the quality, and the rooms only had basic cable, with no smart TVs or streaming. We paid premium rates and it felt like the pool was the only thing we got for it.
