Northlander Motel

The bed was comfortable, and I thought the water temperature was perfectly normal. You have to adjust the tap gradually to get it where you want, which took me back to the 90s and 2000s. The electric baseboard heat had traditional dials too, another nostalgic touch. The place was unbelievably clean. I noticed no bugs, dirt, odd smells, or signs of pets, despite it being pet-friendly. Maybe they separate pet rooms from the others. It’s in a good area, within walking distance of bubble tea and a grocery store. A 100-out-of-10 stay for me.

We only stayed long enough to rest and shower before carrying on across Canada, but the staff’s kindness really stayed with us. The room was clean and comfortable, and everyone was so friendly when we needed help. We were caught in a snowstorm. Other places couldn’t take us right away and wouldn’t let us park our U-Haul because of the weather. This hotel made room for us, and it felt like it was meant to be. We arrived late, didn’t stay the whole night, and left grateful for the welcoming, down-home treatment. Thank you for stepping up when others wouldn’t.

The room felt cozy and practical, with clean surroundings and plenty of towels and soaps. The microwave came in handy, too. I liked that the rooms where animals stay are farther from the others, so taking my dog outside doesn’t disturb anyone. The owner was great and very accommodating. I’ll definitely be back.

The kid at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The room itself was adequate and seemed clean, though the floor had a strange greasy feel that made me not want to walk around barefoot. Maybe it was residue from the mop. For a highway motel, it was about what I expected.
