Ambassador Motel

The room felt bright and fresh after the updates: new beds, carpet, AC, paint, and towels. I still love the pool, and we had a wonderful stay. The front desk staff and a gentleman were so kind, upbeat, and helpful. Thanks for another excellent stay.

I've travelled a lot across Canada and used to avoid roadside motels. But when prices at Super 8 and similar places had risen 100% since around 2017, I looked elsewhere, and the pet-friendly room here was just fine. We mainly used it for sleeping and rested well. No urine smell, and nothing beyond the ordinary pet-room smell. The owner was especially nice. I'd mentioned worrying about odor because of another review; she explained the situation honestly and called minutes after I got to the room to check that I was satisfied. The location just outside downtown suited me, and having my car behind the motel kept it out of main view, so I felt less worried about a break-in. The motel was fully booked, yet the pool was empty. I usually don't like motel pools because they're crowded, but this one had pleasantly HOT water. Best motel pool I know from Quebec to Alberta. Until I buy a camping trailer, Ambassador will be my go-to in Sault St-Marie.

The rooms were dated but practical, clean, and comfortable, and the place was quiet and felt safe. We spent two nights there while travelling on vacation to see the fall colours. Front desk staff were great and knowledgeable, and the location was convenient. It was exactly what we wanted.

The dog smell in the room was so overpowering that even my dog went wild. I know the place allows dogs, but I've never had a room this bad. The extra charge wasn't mentioned until check-in, and the screen had come off its track on the sliding glass doors. I swear the sheets hadn't been washed, so I didn't sleep on them. I'll never waste my time or money here again.
