The price was good, the area was quiet overnight, and the bed was comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the location worked well. I could hear some hallway and neighbor-room noise, though. The rooms are plain and have scuff marks, which I didn't mind, but there were someone else's dirty shoe prints on my bathroom floor and the pillows weren't comfortable. I'd probably stay again and bring my own pillow.

The pool and hot tub were nice to have, and the place was clean. Service was great.

They charged us after we canceled, and wouldn't let us move the date. I booked a one-night stay for a group over the long weekend, but we had to cancel a week ahead. We thought that much notice for a single night would be no big deal, but apparently not. The booking process didn't mention this cancellation practice, and even the English version showed the legal wording in French, so it was impossible to spot what I see as a scam tactic.

The location made this a good base for visiting nearby national parks, and check-in was smooth. Staff were welcoming, and my room was clean, spacious, and had the amenities I needed. I also enjoyed the facilities: the restaurant, fitness center, spa area, pool, and hot tub were all good, with the pool and hot tub well maintained. I had a good stay at Hôtel Énergie Shawinigan and would happily come back. The service and accommodations were comfortable.

Everything else was good, but the music and partying nearby, maybe from the resto lounge, were very noisy. I'd rate it 3.5 stars overall.
