The bike setup was the one frustrating part of our stay. Bikes aren't allowed in the rooms, and although there's a shared locked bike room, its lock wasn't working while we were there. We asked if we could make an exception and keep our bikes in the suite, but they said no and offered us a bike lock instead. There are signs about the rule and cameras in the hallway. We still enjoyed the stay and would come back. Our one-bedroom suite was spacious and clean, with a good layout, nice bathrooms, and useful kitchen amenities. The TVs felt a little dated and had Telus service. We couldn't tell whether Netflix was available at all.

We were there on a summer weekend for a bike race and Crankworx. The room itself was clean and pleasant, with plenty of cooking supplies and a hot tub. But some key details weren't clear in the room description. There was no air conditioning, so it got warm, and the hot tub sat right beside the parking area with no privacy screen. The bright lot lights also shone into the room at night because the window had no blackout curtain. The bike rule should be clear when booking: bikes can't come into the room, which is manageable if you know ahead of time and can arrange locks or storage. It was buried in tiny email print. More frustrating, there were no hotel services in the lodge that summer. There was no front desk there, so we had to go somewhere else for anything we needed. We weren't told room service wouldn't be available. After using the two hot tub towels, we needed fresh ones, but housekeeping didn't bring any, and the front desk was quite rude when we called. The staff at the other location seemed unsure how Firelight Lodge worked. They couldn't tell us which door to use to get our bags to our room, and at checkout they wouldn't tell us where the lobby restroom was. If the resort markets these as hotel rooms year-round, it should offer the same amenities in summer as in winter.

We'd stay here again for the clean, modern rooms and the great staff. They responded well to requests, and when the washer-dryer overflowed, they gave us a food voucher. That was just bad luck, not their fault. The ski-in, ski-out description is misleading, though. From the ski locker it's about a 100-yard walk across to the far side of the main parking lot, then another 200 yards to the lift, mostly uphill. You can't ski from the hotel. The shower's water-saving head was really annoying, too. One parking note if you're bringing a truck: the underground clearance drops from 7 feet at one end to 6 feet 6 inches at the other. There are only a few higher-clearance spots, and they're first come, first served. For true ski-in, ski-out access, look in the village.

The hot tub was nice, and the location is great. The beds could be more comfortable, though. Our unit had two tiny 32-inch TVs and no real sound system, just an old Sony speaker with an ancient Apple connection.

The rooms were comfortable and roomy, and the staff were really helpful. It's a short walk to the main village and gondola, with tubing, skating, and beginner hills very close by. We liked the lodge a lot. The only reason I'd stop short of five stars is the hot tub, which is old and could use an update, as other reviews have mentioned.
