Slemon Park Hotel & Conference Centre

For the price, I guess it’s okay. Our room was clean, though the furniture was old and looked second-hand. The front desk person was lovely. The website mentioned breakfast service, but there wasn’t any breakfast or even a restaurant on site. The cable package was very basic, and although WiFi was free, it was public and unsecured, so bring plenty of phone data.

The employee was doing his best and was as helpful as he could be, but the room was awful. It was in a separate building from check-in, with a strange layout and beat-up furniture that was peeling and falling apart. The room stank, and I could hear the man in the next room snoring. It was freezing because the thermostat didn’t work. The bed was twin-sized even though it was advertised as a queen, and the sheets were rough and bumpy. If I could give less than one star, I would. I don’t recommend it.

I was nervous after reading the reviews, but seeing the place in person left me pleased. It’s nice and peaceful, and I’d come back and recommend it. The carpets should be removed everywhere because they really stink, and it could use a good paint job.

The rooms were clean, and the staff were exceptional. They even pointed me toward good places to eat. It’s an unusual arrangement, with guests staying in a barracks-style building rather than the main one. Unloading was awkward: I had to park on the street, unload the vehicle, then drive back to the main building to park.
