Ramada by Wyndham Cornwall

The stay itself was horrible. Shannon at the front desk was the one bright spot. She welcomed me warmly, checked me in efficiently, and answered my questions with a smile. I really appreciated her kindness and work ethic while she was the face of the hotel during my stay.

I won't be staying here again. I've been coming to the Ramada Inn Cornwall twice a year for business for the past 3 years, usually for a week, and my latest visit was the worst. The staff are nice, but they couldn't make up for the experience. The room heater and thermostat didn't work, and the bathroom sink was clogged enough that I had to wait for it to drain after brushing my teeth. I was given an upgrade to a room with a fireplace, which sounded nice until I learned it gave off no heat. It was a broken electric fireplace that rattled and squeaked while making its fake flames. My wife also heard birds squawking day and night all week. We found out the hotel was playing sounds of owls killing black crows from the roof to scare away the black crows that roost nearby. There are better, more up-to-date hotels closer to the 401.

The decor was lovely and the prices were reasonable. The customer service was “Hors paire,” easily 5/5. Coffee was in a “Thermos” on the counter, pretty much as expected.

The mattress really needs replacing. I sank into it, woke up with a stiff back, and I’m only 5”2 and average weight. That’s why I’m giving four stars, even though the room was neat and tidy. The service was truly superb. The late check-in staff were friendly and accommodating, and the woman looking after the breakfast buffet worked hard to keep everything stocked and clean. That kind of effort stood out. I also liked that the hotel welcomes pets, and it’s in a handy spot near restaurants and stores, with the highway not too far away. I’d stay again with my pup, since my choices are limited and the customer care was that good.
