Rocking R Guest Ranch

We spent our final three honeymoon nights at this picture-perfect ranch overlooking Eagle Lake. The cabin had a real fireplace and a beautiful view, and it was just right for unwinding before saying “see ya later” to Canada. Ryan and Kara were warm and sincere, and we quickly felt like more than guests. We both recommend the ranch hand experience with Ryan. It was fun getting close to the animals and learning to rope. This peaceful spot is close enough to Banff to use as a base, but it’s also well worth visiting as a destination on its own. Hope to see ya soon, Ryan and Kara. We’ll be back!

The sunset was magical, and the owners are fantastic. This place feels special, and I had an incredible stay. If you book, consider an experience like riding or roping. Bring outdoor or riding shoes, and I’d advise having your own vehicle. Pack swimwear for the hot tub too. I can’t wait to return to Rocking R with friends and family.

We spent a couple of days here with the family, and the kids loved watching the farm animals and having plenty of room to roam. It’s a lovely quick escape from the city, while still being close by. The cabin was spacious, very clean, and well maintained, with some nice little touches. There was a hot tub, fire pit, and BBQ. The price seemed fair, and it was easy to communicate with the owner. Looking forward to visiting again.

I was extremely disappointed by how RRR handled our booking. The owners didn’t get along with our wedding planner, and the whole experience was ruined. My husband and I had signed an initial contract, but two weeks before the wedding they wanted to change it and add a ton of strange conditions and extra charges. There were fees to use the bathroom, the reception would have had to end by 10 p.m. even though that wasn’t in the original terms, and guests who weren’t in the photos couldn’t wander the property. It felt like a pile of controlling rules. My planner wouldn’t have been allowed on site on the wedding day. My husband is a DJ, and when they found out, they added this clause: “4.3 DJ’s & Music Providers: Any vendors providing music services must be respectful in regards to the level of volume. If it is deemed that any music is too loud or disruptive, the Company reserves the right to ask the vendor to reduce the volume, change the song, or shut down completely.” They treated it as a cancellation because, they said, the first contract wasn’t valid since they hadn’t signed it. They kept all our money, and we had to find and pay for a new venue two weeks before the wedding. I considered suing to get the money back, but would rather not deal with these people again. I texted and emailed asking for a refund with no luck. After the wedding I reported it to the BBB, and in their response they threatened to criminally charge us. Then the owner texted after the wedding asking us to come out for a drink, saying this wasn’t how they wanted things to go. Expect added charges if you book here. Their response still blamed my wedding planner for taking my money and canceling the wedding. They took no responsibility for wrecking the planning experience. I’m SO SO glad we found the venue we did and were able to make the day a success.
