Update: They gave me a credit toward my stay, so I’ve raised my rating. Customer service is generally good. The day manager was horrified to hear the snow clearing had happened overnight and said it was meant to be scheduled during the day. If a quiet, comfortable night’s sleep is what you need, look elsewhere. I was woken at 11:30 pm by the hotel’s contracted snow removal trucks, moving old snow even though it hadn’t snowed that day. From 11:30 pm until 3 am, they came back every 20 minutes and worked for about 10 minutes each time. It seems like this could have been avoided during quiet hours. The hotel was also under construction when we arrived, with carpets being redone. The hallway smelled overwhelmingly of glue and wet paint when we got off the elevator. For the price, it wasn’t cheap, especially with the night’s sleep interrupted.

We could get out of the snow-covered parking lot, but leaving the hotel was awkward because of traffic. We usually had to turn right and go to the next lights to turn around. Inside, the room temperature was hard to manage, and the heating system kept switching on and off noisily. I turned it down so far it wouldn’t come on, and was glad I’d brought a heated blanket. There was only a bathroom mirror, no full-length or small vanity mirror, which made getting ready with more than one person difficult. Shower pressure and hot water were great, but the toilet paper was rough and cheap. We didn’t try breakfast either day. I was there this past weekend for a hockey tournament with my 16-year-old son. They let us check in early, which was fantastic, and the female staff gave excellent service every time. The hotel was safe and clean, but at $200 a night I felt it was overpriced. The walls are thin and the place is noisy. Our team stayed somewhere else, but a young team there, maybe 13-year-olds, ran the halls and stairs, slammed doors, screamed, and played mini sticks. There were also drunk guests in the hallways overnight, and at 3 am someone banged very loudly on a door before talking in the hall. It’s disappointing when parents let their kids behave that way, though the hotel can only do so much. The phone app key stopped working within a few hours. The hard keys for my son and me also quit every few hours, usually after using the side entrance. We kept them away from our phones, key fob, and other cards, but they still stopped working. Kids shouldn’t be allowed in the gym without adult supervision at any hour. The hot tub was closed Saturday afternoon for its scheduled weekly maintenance. Unless it was closed because something was wrong, that work should happen after 11 pm when the pool is closed.

Breakfast comes with the room, but cereal or fruit seemed like the safest choices. The oatmeal was thick and pasty, and the potatoes and sausage were cold and chewy. The waffle maker worked fine. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, including Cora's, Starbucks, The Keg, and more. I’d suggest Salute Coffee Company and Don's Pizza locally. Every staff member gave outstanding service. The hotel’s a bit dated, but clean and well maintained, and the bed was pleasantly firm. Unfortunately, outside noise came straight into the room, and I slept terribly both nights. I’d avoid a room facing the front. For service, upkeep, and the bed, I’d put it at a solid three and a half stars.

We arrived after a long drive on a weeknight and were very happy with the stay. The room layout was oddly long but worked well, with a TV and sitting space, a hallway, and a small bedroom section. The closet was next to the bed, and the washroom was larger, with a bathtub. Staff at the desk were helpful and knew their stuff. There was lots of choice in the spacious breakfast area, and restaurants are close enough to walk to.

Stella at the front desk was especially attentive, respectful, and cheerful, with a great attitude. Service was excellent, and I’d recommend the hotel because of the care she showed. It’s quiet, the rooms are spacious, and there are good restaurants nearby.
