Amsterdam Inn & Suites Sussex

A solid hotel, and the breakfast was one of the best I've had at this level. The woman handling breakfast was a star, working hard and getting everything done efficiently. She deserves a raise. One small request: please put a no-smoking sign on the bench near the front entrance.

Breakfast was included, though our hostess seemed eager to move us along to our room. We stayed one night and found the place pretty decent, very clean, with a comfortable room on the second floor that had two beds. There was a microwave and TV, and the minifridge needed to be switched on. The room faced people's houses, which felt like an odd setup. The hotel is just off the highway, about a 10-minute drive from the town's main drag, with places like McDonald's and big box stores nearby.

A real hidden gem, with a great location and a clean room. Breakfast was excellent too. My only gripe is the coffee: it seemed dark roasted, and not everyone wants that first thing in the morning.

We couldn't stay for breakfast, but it smelled amazing even from our room. My husband, baby, and I found the room cozy and comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless. We'd stayed at big chain hotels with truly poor housekeeping before, so this place's cleanliness really stood out.
