The Simon Hotel Sydney

I’ve stayed at the Simon Hotel a couple of times while traveling with my son’s sports team, and I’d happily stay again. The room layout works especially well for my family and larger groups: the bed is in a separate room, with a spacious sitting area, TV, seating, and a table. It’s much more enjoyable than a typical hotel room. Both rooms I stayed in were very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the lobby was nice. I didn’t eat at the hotel, but friends said breakfast was very good. The free lobby coffee was better than I expected. Staff were friendly, check-in and checkout were easy, and they let me change my reservation at the last minute without a charge. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

I rarely write reviews, but my stay at The Simon this weekend deserved one. Erin made check-in incredibly smooth and went above and beyond for us. The rooms are spacious and very clean, and the hotel is well maintained. It’s downtown, close to everything. I don’t visit Sydney often, but this will definitely be my hotel of choice next time. Highly recommend it!

The suite was spacious and comfortable, and we really enjoyed the food at Trio. Breakfast and dinner both had great flavors, and the staff and restaurant team were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The cold hallway outside our room, between the elevator and lobby, was hard to ignore. We kept our sweaters on through dinner. Having the heat on throughout the day would have made the stay much more comfortable.

Trio is still a five out of five for me. I first gave it that rating in 2018, and everything we ate was delicious. Our suite on the 7th floor was large, fresh, and nicely laid out, and the Christmas decorations in the entrance were lovely. The late-night noise was the downside. At 11pm, a young boy opened the stairwell door and yelled to his friends below, and we could hear kids running along the hallway above us. I know the hotel isn't responsible for children who aren't properly supervised, especially hockey kids, but families could be placed on the bottom 3 floors so other guests can get some peace and quiet. For what we pay, a reasonable amount of quiet feels fair. I still gave the hotel five stars.
