Edgewater Inn

We booked without checking the reviews, which was a mistake. The man on the phone said the place was smoke free, but the room we were offered smelled of cigarette smoke, so we did not stay. I have a severe allergy to nicotine. They wouldn't refund the $115. If you don't smoke, stay away. For $20-40 more you can get a decent room that smells fresh, maybe with thicker and newer walls. We ended up at Best Western, prairie moon. If you're a smoker, it may be cheap enough.

Jennifer was a great host, very professional and provided excellent service. The rooms were clean and cozy, and the beds were really comfortable and fresh. Thanks to Jennifer and the Edgewater Inn!

It's an older motel with older furnishings, but inexpensive and near the water. The floors and sheets looked clean. The shower curtain needs replacing.

Things went badly from the start. The front desk woman had no customer service skills, and even when I tried to be friendly, she acted inconvenienced. The room was run down and hadn't been cleaned properly. I don't have high standards for motels, but this place was still a dump. There was a drunk man right outside my room talking nonsense at me when I first walked to the door, and it seemed nobody cared. After checkout, I was sitting in my car when the front desk woman came right up to the window and accused me of smoking marijuana in the room, saying she'd charge me a smoking fee. I politely explained I hadn't smoked in the room, and that the cameras would show me always going outside to smoke. I said the smell could be from having marijuana in the room, and they could just open the windows for a bit. She sighed and said she couldn't rent out the room that night, even though it was only 10 am and airing out smells takes 10 minutes. Terrible experience. I won't go back.
