Best Western Terrace Inn

It looks like they're finally trying a top-down rebuild, but as it is now, this place is a joke. Management replies to feedback with the same generic copy-paste message on every review. Save your money and stay somewhere else. The hotel is badly outdated and right beside the train tracks. Freight trains, the rattling mini-fridge, traffic, and the drunks and loiterers outside all make it hard to sleep peacefully. As the budget option in town, it seems to draw a rough crowd and there's constant commotion. It’s a last resort. The only reason to stay is that it’s cheap, if you’d rather avoid a loud youth hockey team or tournament crowd at the Quality Inn or Holiday Inn. But you’re just swapping one kind of noise for another.

The staff were amazing, and my room was clean, nicely decorated, and had everything I needed. There’s a wheelchair ramp, though stairs leading to the restaurant mean there’s still some room to improve accessibility.

The hotel is old but well kept, and we’d stay again and recommend it. It’s quiet in the neighbourhood. After dark, some doorways on nearby streets are used as beds by homeless people who aren't interested in you. We walked to most places we wanted to visit, and our room had a nice mountain view. The blackout curtains were great, and the showers got hot with plenty of pressure. I was disappointed that the bathtub plug wouldn’t hold water. The fridge was a good size and got as cold as you wanted. The little gym is well equipped. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful, with lots of choices for everyone. The omelette bar was a favourite, and kids are sure to like the waffles. We’re used to hard mattresses and found these a little soft, but still comfortable.

The breakfast was the best we’ve ever had at a hotel. Instead of the usual free spread of waffles, cereal, yogurt, juice and coffee, there was an omelet station where you picked your toppings and they made it for you. Amazing and unexpected. We arrived on our motorcycles in Aug, soaked through after rain, with the temperature only 15 degrees even though it was supposed to be warm. We desperately needed a room, and the woman at the front desk was fantastic. She let us check in early, was friendly, and lovely to talk to. Our room was quiet and very clean, and the beds were super comfortable. Manjeet, the manager, was also very friendly, with impressive customer service. Great service feels special these days. Thank you, Manjeet. If we’re in Terrace again, we’ll stay here.
