The showers were hot and the rest of the place was clean, which was what mattered most to us. The old carpets and worn décor took me back to my backpacking days in the 80s. It was easy to find and fairly central, and we chose it to save money since cities are always more expensive. There's a pay-and-display car park across the road, so factor that in if you're driving. The price is about right for the place. What more do you need?

Our room was small, with older sheets and a little shower, but everything worked fine for our one night. It was clean, with a very clean fridge, bed, and kitchen area, and had everything you might need, almost like a tiny apartment you could live in for a month or more. The location was great for old town Toronto, close to a great coffee shop. Parking is paid across the street and farther down the block. There are some missions nearby, so there were a few unsavory people on the street.

They took my deposit and won't return it. I checked in, then left right away because of the conditions they keep upstairs. Those rules only became clear after I'd paid and transferred the deposit, and there was no way to know about them beforehand. After 10 pm, the rules basically turn the whole hotel into a jail. I don't trust these people. DON'T GO THERE.

We booked five nights, but walked out because our room was disgusting. At the front desk, very rude staff pressured us to pay twice. The owner eventually refunded us and it seemed settled, but the following week we were charged over a thousand dollars, and they refused to give it back.
