Black Rock Landing

We absolutely loved our stay in unit 301 on the top floor, and despite a few drawbacks, the positives far outweighed them. We had what we needed to make it feel like home, and I had packed spices, coffee and tea, laundry detergent, shampoo, and body wash that were all provided. I read that two housecoats were included, but there weren't any for us. We would definitely stay again. After the stress of Westjet's strike just after we'd fought our way in, relaxing here was a pleasure. Never again! The location is excellent for families or solo travelers. It's in the heart of Ucluelet, beside Black Rock and the Aquarium, and shops, restaurants, liquor stores, Coop groceries, ice cream, and quaint coffee shops are all within walking distance. The building sits by a small harbor inlet overlooking a huge dock, where you can see fishing boats and tour groups heading out on adventures. One confusing thing: the property is called Black Rock Landing, but that name isn't shown on or inside the building. After asking businesses on the main floor, who said people often ask them about it, we eventually found a small, weathered sign in the back parking lot facing inward. It says "Whiskey Landing," visible only from the lot. We had little to complain about, though it seems they may not often get hot weather like we had. There's no A/C, just one fan, and only two tiny front windows that open, one with a screen. The two decks have no screen doors, and with all those large windows, there was little airflow and lots of hot sun with nowhere to go. This unit also has no BBQ, though we saw others did. It would have been nice to have a shared BBQ area.
