Pluvio Restaurant and Rooms

My fiancée and I celebrated our engagement at Pluvio during our trip to Ucluelet, and we'll never forget the meal. It was probably the best I've had anywhere, and one of the highlights of our time on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The staff welcomed us by name and gave us a signed postcard congratulating us, which was really cool. Every course was amazing, from snacks to mains, and the care showed in both the presentation and taste. The salmon especially deserves a mention, it was the best I've had at a restaurant. We had the non-alcoholic tasting menu, which was fantastic, and the desserts were top notch too, including the Valentine's Day themed special. For anyone travelling to Tofino/Ucluelet, I'd recommend Pluvio. It's an incredible experience!

The dessert was a little underwhelming, which is the only negative I can think of. Everything else was amazing, and the drinks pairing was perfect. There were fun presentations, and sitting at the kitchen bar/chef's table let us watch everything and chat with the chefs. It's one of our favourite meals. The space is small, which makes for an intimate atmosphere, but it isn't pretentious. The staff were great.

I went for the restaurant and was absolutely delighted. I'd come back if I'm in the area again. The service was attentive without feeling like too much, and dinner was well paced. I left very full, and it was definitely worth the price. My favourites were the opening snacks, sturgeon, salmon, and cornbread. The waffle, both desserts, and spotdog were okay. The rye bread and sablefish were misses for me.

It's an expensive meal, but a special one, and every bite was full of flavour. The staff were incredibly kind, made a point of learning our names, and were truly committed to making the experience one of a kind. A top dining experience, highly recommend.
