The oceanfront setting is what keeps bringing us back to Black Rock Oceanfront Resort. We've stayed here several times since it opened, and being right by the Wild Pacific Trail with waves crashing below never gets old. We fall asleep to the ocean and wake to seabirds and salty air. The rooms make the most of those views, with tall ceilings, comfortable beds, and a deep soaker tub beside a window where you can watch the waves. The soft, cozy robes are just right after a hike. The modern architecture also fits naturally into the rugged coastline, and the art in the lobby and hallways gives the place some character. Freshly baked cookies each afternoon are a lovely little touch. We enjoy the restaurant's storm-watching experience, especially since the patio expansion added large folding windows that let you take in the wild weather while staying warm. There are also two oceanfront hot tubs and a cold plunge pool, all with panoramic views. The attentive service adds a lot to every visit. And don't miss the 100+ year old "mystery" shipwreck on the beach!

We'd come back, though there are a few things I'd change. The soaker tub filled with brown water when we tried it, and the robes are fleece, which I'd prefer to see replaced with a more luxurious cotton style like at other spas I've visited. The plunge pool and hot tubs also feel quite small for a resort this size. On the plus side, our room was clean and comfortable, and the view was visible from almost anywhere in it. The restaurant food and service were great. The pub food was just okay, though the service there was great too.

We had a great time at this gorgeous oceanfront resort and would love to return. Currents restaurant had delicious food, a wonderful view, and very good service. Our ocean-facing unit was part of a four-unit building and had everything we needed: a kitchen, a sitting area with a fireplace and TV, and a king bed with a down duvet. The bathroom had heated floors, a large shower, and a separate tub. The room was in fine condition.

The people here made this one of my best hotel stays on Vancouver Island. I was at Black Rock Oceanfront Resort for work as the New Year's Eve DJ, and the lounge staff helped make the night fun, energetic, and smooth. The restaurant crew, from the chef and hosts to the servers, were outstanding. Josh Brown even took time to talk basketball with my son, a genuine moment that showed how much the team cares about guests. Everyone we met was warm and welcoming from arrival. Clara at the front desk, Emily, Laura, and the rest of the team made us feel at home. Housekeeping was wonderful too, especially a fabulous housekeeper originally from Chile who was so kind to me and my family. I wish I could remember how to pronounce her name properly. The rooms were exquisite, among the best I've stayed in on the island. The whole resort felt thoughtful and inviting. Even though I was there for work, I'd gladly return as a guest and recommend Black Rock Oceanfront Resort to everyone I know. Highly, highly recommended.

We keep coming back to BlackRock Resort, almost every year for the past decade. It's a relaxing place in any season, with lovely accommodation, great customer service and dining, plus that stunning location. Beachside hikes are right there, and there are good local shops nearby. We highly recommend it.
