Mowat Landing Cottages

The Love Shack gave my wife a lovely river view from the deck, and the boats were great too. The owner was super helpful with anything we needed around the property. We’ve been twice now and both stays were great. It’s my favorite vacation spot, especially if you’re after quiet, nature, beautiful mornings, and good fishing.

We loved staying at the Love Shack at Mowat Landing Cottages. The owners were so helpful, and they kept us well supplied with wood for the wood-burning stove. We even got in a quick polar dip in the lake on our last day. It’s such a beautiful place. We had a great weekend and will book again, hopefully for a whole week next time.

We’d been fishing the weed beds near Mowat Landing before heading to Lady Evelyn for years, usually catching lots of little pike and a few smallmouth. This time we gave the Montreal River a proper try, and it was an awesome call. The fishing here is great. Trevor was a terrific host. The cottage was clean and had what we needed for a fishing trip, and he helped us get settled with loads of local lake and fishing-spot information. He also gave us the lowdown on New Liskeard for dinner in town. On our first night, we blew a tire on the road back to town. I patched it, but it was barely holding air, and there was no cell service where we were stuck. We got a local heading to the launch to tell Trevor what happened. He came out to assess things, lent us his truck keys so we could go to dinner, and drove my truck back to the cottage himself. By the time we got back, the spare was on. He really went above and beyond. I’ve been going on fishing trips for 40 years, and I’m definitely coming back with the boys. I felt so comfortable with what Trevor has going here that I plan to bring my 6-year-old grandson fishing here in the next couple of years. On our first visit, we spent one night in the Love Shack and loved it. The jacuzzi was a treat, and the screened-in deck was a great place to watch the sunset and boats coming into the neighbouring public dock. We spotted the camping area then and decided to return for a camping trip. The tent sites were spacious, with fire pits and river views. Two families of ducks came by our shoreline, and we saw plenty of other wildlife with only light boat traffic. We brought our own boat, launched at the public site without waiting, and docked at Mowat Landing Cottages. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We’ll be back often to camp while boating and fishing on the Montreal River. We might arrange a shuttle to Lady Evelyn, but honestly there were so few boats on the Montreal River that we’d be glad to skip the traffic on L.E. If you want a beautiful, quiet place to fish, this is it. The host was fabulous and accommodating, and the long weekend was such a great stay. Thanks, Mowat Landing Cottages.
