Alpine Inn

For $91 a night after tax, I guess you get what you pay for, but I’d gladly spend $20 more at one of the proper hotels nearby. This place feels like a motel, not a two-star hotel, and I wouldn’t recommend it. The bedsheet was dirty, the hair dryer didn’t work because its plug was too loose, and the wall outlet kept sparking when I touched the metal on my laptop while it was charging or touched the temperature control. Everything seemed broken.

The staff made a stressful situation easy when I accidentally left my pillow behind. They kept it safe until a friend could pick it up, and were kind and quick to respond. That’s why I’m giving Alpine Inn in Valemount five stars. The rooms are basic and functional rather than fancy, and traffic noise nearby was noticeable, so it isn’t a luxury stay. Still, it’s clean and comfortable, and for the price it’s a great value for budget travelers. Highly recommend! 5.1sFast

The room looked newly renovated and was extremely clean. We only stayed one night, and the price was amazing. We arrived after dark, and the woman at the front desk was cheerful and very friendly. The red and white Christmas lights out front made the place feel welcoming. I’m guessing the owners bought the business recently and fixed everything up, which might explain the low star rating. We had a great experience.

Room 170, beware. When I moved a pillow to deal with a spider I’d seen run behind it, we found what felt like spider city behind the pillow and down behind the bed. Thick webs covered the wall, with hundreds of spider eggs and huge black spiders. My husband and I panicked, grabbed our things, and left right away. The man at the desk was nice, apologized, and refunded us, but I’ll never book here again or recommend it. Seeing that spider may have saved us from trying to sleep there. It was my worst nightmare come to life.
