Chalet Continental

Ted was running the motel tonight and was really friendly and accommodating. The rooms are large and clean. I’d definitely stay again when I’m in the area. Thanks again!

The motel was completely empty when we arrived, and now I understand why. The owner, who said he was the manager, treated us aggressively and disrespectfully from the start. He asked whether we were from Edmonton or Vancouver, said a room was available, and had us begin filling in our information before telling us the price. I asked what the rate was, and my father, who is a senior, hadn’t heard it clearly and politely asked him to repeat it. Instead of clarifying, the owner got visibly angry, suddenly said there was no availability, and ordered us to leave. When we asked what was going on, he escalated things and put his hands on me in a threatening way. Then he went to grab a stick, as if he meant to use it against us. Nobody should be treated this way while simply trying to book a room. The behavior was unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place entirely.

The second-floor room smelled fresher and was quiet and clean, with a newer fridge that worked well and lots of TV channels. In the ground-floor room, there was a faint cigarette smell, though it wasn’t too bad; the TV only had one channel, and the fridge didn’t work very well. Both rooms had comfortable beds and were quiet and felt clean. I spent two nights at Chalet Continental with my young daughter while travelling to and from Alberta. It isn’t luxury, but I was happy with the stay and the rooms are worth considering for a quick stop in Valemount. The owner at the front desk was incredibly friendly, and check-in was easy and straightforward.

My in-laws hadn’t told the staff I’d have a dog, but when I brought it up, they kindly let my dog stay without an extra pet fee. They were polite and really helpful. I’d stay again if I’m passing through.
