Super 8 Valemount

Breakfast wasn’t a huge spread, but the fresh eggs, bacon, and fruit were better than what I’ve had at other hotels in this price range. The rooms were clean and well made, and they suggested some walks around the lovely town. We checked in on 25th December and one of the owners met us at the front desk. The service was great, and they went above and beyond to accommodate us. All in all, a good experience.

The only reason I’m giving four stars is that it’s an older hotel without updated amenities, though the price is fair and the service more than makes up for it. The complimentary breakfast, cleanliness, and overall quality were great. We stayed twice over the Christmas holidays to split up the drive. The first time, our Expedia booking went smoothly, and the place felt warm, friendly, and very accommodating. The general manager, whose name I didn’t get, was extremely kind and helpful. He brought us two playpens to use as cribs for our twins and helped my boyfriend carry our things upstairs while our hands were full. On the way back, we stopped unexpectedly because of the road conditions, and thankfully they had a room. The same general manager was at the desk, greeted us warmly, remembered us, and promptly said he’d bring the playpens to our room again.

We stayed one night at Super 8 Willmar, and it was a very disappointing experience. The room wasn’t clean, and the washroom blocked up during the night. The toilet wouldn’t flush, so we had to call someone late at night to fix it. That’s unacceptable for any hotel, especially one claiming to be “4-star.” Breakfast was even worse. There were about 30 minutes left before it closed, but most items were already gone, with no eggs, sausage, or fresh food. When we asked, staff said they wouldn’t cook more eggs because “there’s only 30 minutes left.” The attitude and service were extremely poor. Cleanliness, facilities, and service were all below standard. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all.

We had a very poor night’s sleep because the room was noisy all night, with pipes banging and clinking inside the walls. The hotel is clean, well priced, and in a handy spot just off the highway. The breakfast was terrible, it made Tim Horton's look like a five-star restaurant.
