The host was kind and responsive, and it's impressive that she runs the place herself at 70. She seemed to enjoy welcoming guests and chatting with them. It's hard to review someone who's simply looking for company, and she was very friendly and happy to see us. Still, this wasn't a luxury stay. The home was clean, but the space felt cluttered, the walls were thin, and we could hear just about everything. We were hot until the evening air cooled the room, so if you need air conditioning, this probably isn't the place. Guests are discouraged from coming back late at night, and the shower was tiny, more like a camper's than a guest room's. There was no tub. I also didn't care for the scent in the house. Breakfast was very simple, and the bowl of Cheerios I had was stale. For the price, I expected more comfort and fewer restrictions. If you want a no-frills stay with a warm host and can live with the quirks, it may suit you. Check the place out before letting your partner book it.

Diana was a gracious, welcoming host and made my dad's and my time in Vancouver feel special. She's a fascinating woman, the kind of character you don't meet every day, and an absolute pleasure to be around. The rooms were clean and full of interesting decor, and her house is really cool.

Diana was disrespectful when we arrived and throughout our stay. She accused us of taking the key, and we weren't allowed into the back deck or living areas. The room was tiny, there was no WiFi, and it was ridiculously expensive.

The apartments were fresh and really clean, and the whole house was one of a kind, filled with interesting decor from different countries. Diana is an incredibly friendly host with a huge amount of knowledge about Vancouver and the wider world. She can point you toward places worth visiting and things to buy.
