Awful experience. Construction was only mentioned when I checked in, and by then I had nowhere else to go, so I had to stay. The kitchen was crawling with cockroaches and I couldn’t sleep all night. The next morning, loud construction from the room beside me woke me up. I finally got out of the hotel the following morning. I don’t want anyone else to go through this. Don’t stay here.

Our family of three stayed in room 1102 from June 30 to July 30, 2023. The comfortable apartment had everything we needed, although parts were a bit worn and could have been cleaned more thoroughly, including the kitchen fan, inside of the fridge and freezer, and living room carpet. The location and staff were convenient and accommodating. Building manager Fernando kindly gave us his direct WhatsApp contact and answered questions about amenities, the $500 CAD room deposit, cleaning, and other things. The best part for us was the location. London Drugs and Fresh St. Market were right across the street, which made it easy to get toiletries and groceries every day. A block or two in any direction took us to the Aquabus for Granville Island, a currency exchange, a 24-hour Tim Horton's, lots of pizza places, Starbucks, bike and e-bike rentals, and buses to downtown, English Bay, and David Lam Park. Most things we wanted around downtown were within a 15-minute walk, including Cineplex, luxury shops on Robson St., Vancouver Art Gallery, Vancouver Public Library, Roundhouse Recreation Center, and Yaletown Skytrain Station. It’s more like a short-term leased condo than a hotel, so don’t expect regular hotel services. Supplies like toilet paper, tissues, and garbage bags were limited, and we needed to buy more for our extended stay. The kitchen had stainless steel pots and pans and one oven tray, but few other cooking supplies, such as a chef knife, proper cutting boards, salt and pepper, or paper towels. I’m used to non-stick Teflon, so learning to cook with stainless steel took some adjustment. I understand why they might not provide a sharp chef knife for liability reasons. We were able to buy enough essentials for the month. The comfortable beds and living room, our own washer and dryer, and the large Samsung digital TV were highlights. It let us watch cable as well as Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, and more. The downsides were unstable Wi-Fi, a partly broken weight machine in the gym, no A/C in the all-window room, and noise from Parker Rooftop Bar/Lounge during renovations and after it opened at the end of July. The pictures show our room on the last day, after we’d removed our belongings and put everything in trash bags to throw away in the P1 dumpster. All in all, our family enjoyed the stay.

My partner and I had stayed there for six months without any problems. Then three staff members came into our suite while we were asleep and told us checkout was scheduled for that day. Our stay had been extended through their official booking email, and we’d paid three weeks in advance. They said it didn’t matter and that we had to leave immediately. We were refunded only about 75% of the amount we’d paid for the month we weren’t allowed to stay. The only explanation was that the booking manager had changed and the previous manager hadn’t confirmed the reservation. We’d followed the same process every month without trouble, and the payment had been made three weeks ahead.

I booked this aparthotel through BOOKING.COM in January 2023 for June 8 to July 14, 2023. On June 2, I was notified that the booking had been cancelled, supposedly because of high room availability and full occupancy. When I tried to reach them, they left incorrect information and a wrong phone number, offered no solution or follow-up, then disappeared. Awful and unethical. Never stay here.
