Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre

The hotel itself was clean and spacious, well located for the train station, and good value. Breakfast was good and the fitness centre was impressive. But check-in was a significant problem. My partner's plans changed at the last minute, so he arrived 24 hours before me. I'd completed pre-check-in, added my card to the booking, and confirmed with the hotel in advance that he'd check in first. After a 15-hour flight from Australia, he got there at 8am and was told he needed a physical credit card. His debit card and credit card through Apple Pay were both declined. I called to offer a credit card authorisation, but they refused that too. We were told no hotels in Vancouver would accept him without a physical credit card. I understand this may be local policy, but it was disappointing that they offered no flexibility or temporary option, even for one night until I arrived the next day. No other help was suggested, and he had to find somewhere else. Being turned away after such a long flight and walking around with several bags to find another hotel was extremely stressful and upsetting. Fortunately, another Marriott property could accommodate him.

I enjoyed most of my two-night stay. The location was good, a short walk from the seawall, and I liked the view from my room. The gym downstairs was good, though one of the weights rooms felt a little crowded. The bed and pillows were stiff, which was unfortunate. Parking was the main issue. My partner couldn't pay the first night, and the woman at the desk said he would have to wait until the next day. He did, paid, then found a ticket on the car's dash. The front desk said the hotel would take care of it, which I appreciate, but it seems this could be avoided by having guests pay for parking when they arrive, as other places do.

I booked six months ahead, then had to ask to move my dates because of an unforeseen force majeure event in my family. This was a date change request, not a cancellation, and I contacted the hotel five months before check-in. There was still plenty of availability for the new dates, and I was willing to pay any price difference. Even so, they demanded a change fee of NTD 98,000 just to move the booking. I couldn't agree to that penalty, and their refusal to be reasonably flexible left me losing NTD 130,000. The hotel's hardware may be fine, but management felt cold and predatory. A lot can happen when planning a trip six months ahead. I strongly advise against booking here if you want a hotel that values guests and understands human circumstances. Don't risk your hard-earned money here.

For the past five years, the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre has been my favorite hotel in Vancouver, and I keep choosing it for both work and leisure because the location is so central and convenient. What really makes it stand out, though, is the team, whose service consistently makes each stay comfortable and memorable. A special thank you to the lounge manager, Theodore Lee. Over the years he has felt like family, always warm, attentive and welcoming, and he makes every visit personal. That kind of genuine hospitality is rare and means a lot to me. I absolutely love this place and highly recommend it.
