Skwachàys Lodge

We had a five-star experience for this kind of hotel, even though it isn't a five-star property. The room was unusual, quiet and comfortable. I called ahead about my mobility issues, and they had a step-free room ready for us. We didn't see drug use on the street, though it was raining heavily. We'd stay again.

The room was nice, but the homeless and people with addictions around the hotel made the area feel very unsafe to us. We left after one night because our flight was cancelled, then found we'd been charged twice the full price. After several emails and notices went unanswered, I had to ask the bank for a chargeback.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lively artist coop and hotel. Every room has its own theme based on Indigenous cultures from the area, with beautiful designs by a local artist. Breakfast was limited to morning muffins and fruit, but it was tasty.

The front desk staff member was polite, but I wouldn’t come back. Once I got to the room, I started looking for another hotel right away. Everything nearby that worked for where I needed to be was already booked that night. The room felt gloomy and cramped, looked very dated, and had a musty smell. The air conditioning wasn’t working properly either. For what it cost, I expected a lot better.
