Four Points by Sheraton Vaughan

The location made it easy to get to local attractions and places to eat, so exploring was simple. Staff at the Four Points by Sheraton were welcoming all the way from check-in to checkout and went out of their way to make things right. My room was clean, spacious, comfortable, and had the modern amenities I needed. It was a relaxing, hassle-free stay, and I’d come back and recommend it.

We booked through the Marriott Bonvoy app, and the friendly staff recognized my Bonvoy status right away at check-in. The room and bathroom were modern and very clean, and the bed was super comfortable. It had everything I needed, including tea and coffee, complimentary water, and toiletries if requested. The lobby was neat and clean, and staff overall were welcoming. The hotel is a bit farther from the GTA, but the nearest bus stop is about a three-minute walk. From there the bus takes you to Pioneer station, where you can catch the metro to Union station downtown. There’s a McDonald’s and convenience store right beside the hotel, too. I didn’t try the hotel food, so can’t comment on that. A good four-star hotel, and I’ll definitely be back.

My husband checked in to Four Points by Sheraton Vaughan shortly after midnight two nights before I arrived. He was only in the room briefly before leaving early for business meetings, then returned around 11 PM that night, when I checked in with him. We found a dry blood stain on the duvet of the bed he’d slept in. It wasn’t his. The second bed had several hairs on the sheets, which clearly hadn’t been changed between guests, and there was a brown stain in the toilet. I reported it to the front desk immediately. The staff member apologized and came to change the bedding as I asked, but it took over an hour. He had no clean duvets, so he left us three flat sheets per bed instead. It was a cold night, and we shivered and couldn’t sleep properly without proper bedding. The next day, we spoke to a supervisor hoping for a more professional, empathetic response. Instead, she minimized what happened and kept saying we’d waited 24 hours to report it. My husband had arrived very late and tired, hadn’t thought to inspect the bed, and had only spent a few hours in the room before leaving for meetings. We noticed the problems only when we returned late at night. Rather than understand that, she blamed us for not seeing the blood sooner. She eventually offered a 15% discount, which felt inadequate given that he’d unknowingly slept on a blood-stained duvet, and we had to deal with dirty sheets and a filthy bathroom. This was an unacceptable experience, both for cleanliness and customer service. A simple, restful stay turned frustrating and uncomfortable. I expected much better from a Sheraton property, and sincerely hope the hotel improves its housekeeping protocols and staff training.

Rooms were clean and well appointed, and the staff were fabulous. Boston Pizza on site was a nice plus. The property was great overall, but the location was the one downside: the area felt safe, just not very nice.
