The team made my birthday special, even though our plans changed unexpectedly and we made a last-minute trip to the island from Langley. Front desk, housekeeping, and breakfast staff were all helpful and friendly. We got a free upgrade to a lovely room, with a little birthday treat waiting for us. We knew about the construction across the road ahead of time, but the room was still pretty quiet. Dinner at the Blue Crab was fantastic, and upgrading breakfast to the tea room was so worth it, highly recommend. The grounds and room were clean. If I had one small personal quibble, it’s that the bath towels could be softer. We’ll definitely be back!

We loved our stay and the location was great. Reception was kind and helpful, especially the young man with an Irish accent. The rooms were large, and the staff friendly. Breakfast was a nice treat, though it was VERY busy. The staff did their best to seat people as they arrived. We also had dinner at the Pendray Inn and highly recommend it.

The value was hard to argue with, especially since breakfast was included. We booked through Expedia for TD and check-in went smoothly. The location is great, and the service was mostly unobtrusive. The air conditioner kept cycling on and off, though, and I wish the shower had stronger water pressure. Still, I’d stay again sometime.

The people here are the reason we plan to return in December for another week. Housekeeping was quick and efficient each day, always with a friendly greeting, and the front desk was helpful even when we had computer issues. The food service staff were also clearly dedicated to their work. Our room on the third floor, reached by a staircase, was wonderfully quiet, and the bed was so comfortable we slept through the first breakfast. The decor is dated, the floor was cold, and the bar-stool-style kitchen seating was uncomfortable, especially for shorter people. The kitchen itself was very functional, with a proper teapot, and the tea and coffee there were excellent. That quality didn’t carry over to the breakfast buffet downstairs. Breakfast was inconvenient for older guests: balancing hot food and a drink in one hand instead of carrying a tray took time and meant repeated trips through crowded tables. Staff were constantly walking through, bringing cold air into the room, and with so much traffic we had to keep an eye on our plates. I’d also welcome more variety in the offerings, including hot porridge, which many people enjoy. We checked in quickly in November 2025, and access to the garage was easy, though parking costs extra. A good hotel is about more than decor, a pool, or free parking. The people who care about their work are what make it all happen.

The location near the Legislature makes it easy to get around downtown Victoria, and the rooms are nice, with a king-size bed, although the decor feels dated. Our requests for more towels and blankets were fulfilled, but the way housekeeping responded left us feeling as though we were bothering them. When we asked for towels, they repeatedly asked if we’d checked under the sink. We had, but there were only extra bath towels there, and we needed more hand and face cloths. Later, while using the sofa bed in a cold room, we asked for two more blankets. Again, we were asked if we’d looked in the closet. We had, but the spare blanket wasn’t enough. Their tone sounded annoyed both times. That may not have been their intention, but that was how it came across, so I gave service only two stars.
