Springs Motor Inn

The customer service really stood out. The owner and management went out of their way to help, including upgrading us to a larger room at no extra cost because my husband was on crutches after an injury. I usually only write reviews after a bad experience, but this place deserves five stars for its service. The rooms were surprisingly clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. It’s cheap and has everything you need, though it’s definitely not a four-star hotel. The food was pretty good for the price, and the friendly bartenders have a pool table and VLT machines in the bar. I’d recommend paying extra for an executive room, since it’s roomier and nicer.

We never even got into the rooms, but that terrible 10-minute experience at Springs cost us $300. The motel was filthy, our room still wasn’t ready at 1600, and the manager was disorganized and extremely unprofessional. We explained that we had to cancel because an immediate family member needed a COVID-19 test, but the manager charged us anyway. Poor service, poor quality, a bad attitude, and no professionalism. I’d never travel to Springs again. I believe the clean hotel next door is the same price.

The bed was so hard it felt like concrete. I woke with a badly aching back, needed painkillers and a lot of stretching to ease it, and I’m still sore four days later. Since I was in town to volunteer at an event where I stood on concrete all day, that pain made the weekend much less comfortable. I probably wouldn’t stay again because I don’t want that level of discomfort. Otherwise, the room was clean and smelled okay, the furnishings were in decent shape, and the location was good. The staff were friendly, though I had to find someone to check me in after arriving late, past 8pm, when the desk was unattended. That wasn’t a big deal. The bathroom was very small, and the toilet was a bit dirty when I arrived.

We checked in at 6:00 am, which was awfully nice of them, but left around 6:30 am after looking more closely at the room. The lobby was dark and didn’t feel welcoming. It smelled strongly of mouse feces under a heavy layer of industrial air freshener. The trim was badly worn, and the bathtub had enough caulking for a whole his and hers bathroom. The TV was new, but that didn’t make up for the bedding. I checked under the mattress cover on both beds for signs of health or safety concerns. The first looked okay, but on the other bed there was a brownish-red mark on the sheet, so we decided to leave. The owner said it was oil, which might make sense given the province, but that didn’t convince me. Who gets into bed wearing oil-soaked gloves? After arguing with the owner, we left feeling dirty and grungy.
