Mountain Thyme Getaway

Beds were comfy, there were loads of amenities on site, and Wells has easy, scenic walks. Right across the road you’ll find Frog on the Bog, where you should get a coffee slammer, and Jack o' Clubs pub and general store. From there it’s a short stroll into historic Wells for the galleries, shops, museum, and Sunset Theatre. If you can catch a show, do, they’re amazing. We also visited Barkerville. What a great spot for a weekend or week away, with vintage, arty vibes.

We loved the cottage’s quaint feel, how clean it was, and all the interesting things and reading material about local history. Dave knows a lot about what’s happened in Wells and Barkerville and was happy to share. Wells, BC is a lovely, quiet place, full of down to earth people. After deciding on the spur of the moment to drive from Kelowna to see Barkerville, my fiancee and I called ahead from Quesnel, hoping to find somewhere for the night. Luckily, Mountain Thyme Getaway cottage was available. It’s on the main road in Wells, BC, about 8km before Barkerville. Having grown up in Vancouver and now living in Kelowna, I really enjoyed the change of pace in this little town. Along the main road there are maybe six old historic buildings, including the cottage, with the Frog on the Bog gift shop across from it. The place has funky decor and vintage furniture, and the atmosphere is great. Dave was an amazing host. We unexpectedly arrived in Wells two days before check-in, and he did us a bunch of favours and helped find us somewhere else to stay. 10/10, would stay again. Thanks, Dave and Cheryl!

The cabin was great, with so many unique little details, and the store across the street has really nice things, too. The hosts were wonderful and shared lots of information about the town and things to do.
