Elk View Lodge

I stayed at the lodge for about a year, and Carla always made me feel at home. My large second-floor room had beautiful windows facing the ski hill. I think it had the best view in Fernie. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the kitchen was kept clean and had everything you need. I’d recommend the lodge to anyone traveling to Fernie.

The refund did eventually come through, but it took 17-18 days and several attempts to get a response. The money went to my partner instead of the person who booked, which made things more confusing. Our winter reservation at Elk View Lodge was cancelled with little notice, and communication afterward was extremely poor. My emails got no reply, and it seemed my phone number had been blocked. We only heard back after my partner reached out on several platforms and commented publicly on the business page. It was stressful and unprofessional, and I’d urge others to be careful about booking here.

The host didn’t answer my calls or emails for two weeks, and it wasn’t clear when I’d get my money back. The refund took 16 days. I’d signed and paid in advance for a 1.5-month stay, then Elk View Lodge cancelled two weeks before I was due to arrive. Not a reliable place to stay. I don’t recommend it.

After living here, I was kicked out by Carla for no reason and with no notice. She said she’d call the police and wouldn’t return my money unless I left within 24 hours. Then she raised the Airbnb rent for the next person.
