Poolside Retreat

Ray are wonderful hosts, always available while still giving you privacy. We’ve stayed at the Poolside Retreat with our kids every summer for most of the past decade, and couldn’t ask for a better place in the area. The carriage house works brilliantly for a family: two bedrooms, a full-sized kitchen and eating area, two sitting areas, a bathroom with a full-sized washer and dryer, plus a covered outdoor dining area with a BBQ. You get all of that to yourselves, with a pool shared with other guests and a green games area for badminton. It’s been an incredible experience, and I highly recommend it, as long as you don’t book the weeks we like to stay!

The cottage has plenty to keep you comfortable on a day at home, whether you’re taking a break from activities or waiting out some bad weather. There are books, games, and puzzles inside, plus maps, visitor guides, and brochures with ideas for things to do when you’re running low. The Poolside Cottage is in a quiet neighborhood, and morning or evening walks along the residential and pastoral streets are a joy. The owners are easy to reach when you need help and communicate promptly and professionally, while otherwise giving you full privacy. We’ve booked the cottage each spring for several years, and its central location in the Okanagan Valley makes it a great base for hiking. Peachland currently has only Hainle for vineyards, but Lake Country, Okanagan Falls, and Naramata, along with everywhere in between, are all less than an hour away.

The little outdoor extras, including volleyball, made the stay even more fun, and Jill and Ray were wonderful hosts who made sure I felt comfortable. The place was spotless, with lovely decorative touches. It felt like having my own private oasis in the middle of BC. Such a unique experience, and I’ll be back. 10/10 recommend!

We really enjoyed the private outdoor pool area, and the kitchen had plenty of supplies. Our room was clean and well cared for, and we even fit in a game of pool. The owners were so friendly and helpful, which made the visit even better. It’s an easy drive to Kelowna or Penticton, and there’s a grocery store and other things nearby down in Peachland.
