Travelodge by Wyndham Weyburn

After a long night of driving following several weeks of backpacking, my group called the Wyndham Weyburn and booked a room over the phone. We were told early check-in would be available and that the reservation was being handled through a third-party service affiliated with the hotel. They processed our payment and took our card details. But when we arrived, staff said early check-in wouldn't be honored and denied that the phone conversation had happened, despite the payment and our details being on file. The lobby was in poor condition and unwelcoming. We were told we'd have to wait another ten hours for a room, even though we'd paid in full and been assured otherwise. We asked to cancel because the hotel hadn't provided what we'd been promised. The front desk staff were dismissive and unprofessional, saying we couldn't get a refund because we hadn't cancelled within 24 hours. We'd only booked less than an hour before arriving, so that made no sense to us. After a long, fruitless discussion, we left. We followed up in the days and weeks afterward, but the hotel still refused a refund for a service it hadn't provided. Our group was charged several hundred dollars, and we felt disregarded when we tried to resolve it. This was a serious failure of customer service, fair business practices, and operational integrity. I strongly caution other travelers against the Wyndham Weyburn. We're pursuing the remedies available to recover the money and report the conduct to the relevant oversight agencies.

The lower price compared with the other local Wyndham hotels is appealing, and I appreciate that breakfast is included. The restaurant setup just doesn't suit me. I'd rather quickly pick from a food table, sit and drink my coffee without thinking, then leave. Spending an hour in a restaurant first thing in the morning isn't my preference. There's nothing wrong with that format, though.

I really enjoyed my stay at Travelodge Weyburn. The location made it easy to get to restaurants, gas stations, and other things around Weyburn, and it felt like good value. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable after a long day travelling, with cozy bedding, strong Wi-Fi, and well-stocked amenities. Breakfast was included and was fresh and tasty. Check-in and check-out were friendly, quick, and professional, and the staff made me feel at home. I'd happily stay again and recommend it.
