The Gables by Vacasa

We had a nicely furnished suite and one parking spot. Any extra vehicles had to use parking lot 1 or 2 nearby, where it cost about $12/day. Parking is free from 5pm-8am onward. The air conditioning was on every floor. The location is good, outside the village and quiet enough, but still only a five-minute walk away. I’d recommend checking this place out in summer.

The Gables is a group of spacious, well-appointed condos within walking distance of the Valley trail and upper village. I’m here for work, but I can see a family of 6 or more having a great stay with Whistler right on the doorstep. The kitchen has plenty of amenities, including coffee, which was a lifesaver. The BBQ works great too, if you rent a unit with one. The beds are comfortable as long as you’re OK sharing a room. They’re arranged for families, with lots of bunk beds and singles as well as a couple of master bedrooms. I’d definitely stay here with a large group or family on vacation.

We took shelter here for a few days during the heat wave. The place was reasonably priced and a good size, and the two decent-sized TVs had most of the popular streaming services. That kept both the kid and the adults happy while we waited out the HELLFIRE outside during the day. The bathroom had just ONE roll of toilet paper for a seven-day stay. We ended up venturing into the relentless sun to get more of this essential item, and it made for a miserable outing.

I’ve been to Whistler 50+ times, but Unit 59 at Gables with Susan and David was a disaster. It was obvious she was uncomfortable having people stay in her unit. She charged the full amount to my Visa when I booked, several days before our arrival. When we got there and tried to call the Booking.com agent about the $950 damage deposit she wanted to charge, she made up bogus excuses and told us to leave. There’s really no dispute system, and Booking.com was useless. We lost money and had to find another place at the last minute at expensive rates. Record all conversations with them to protect yourself in case of a dispute. Better yet, don’t risk staying there.
