Days Inn Stouffville

The location worked well for the places I was visiting, but I wouldn’t stay here again. The hotel felt old and poorly maintained, and the stale cigarette smell was awful. People were smoking in their rooms, too. Most of the guests seemed to be male construction or hydro workers, which didn’t feel ideal as a woman travelling alone.

There are some basic room issues that really need attention. The toilet only flushed if I kept holding the button, some tubs weren’t working properly, and there were no holders for the shower heads. The fridge was very loud, while the room had hardly any lighting and no ceiling lights. In the bathroom, the light only came on with the fan. The bed frame also blocked the wall outlet. The sound carried badly between rooms. When guests upstairs turned on the bath tap, it was extremely loud. Wi-Fi was very weak, and breakfast had little variety, with hours limited to 6-9 am. Front desk staff were sometimes away, so you had to press 0 and call them. It’s a decent hotel, but it could be a lot better.

For one night we could manage, and the rooms were clean and decent, though the hotel is dated. The shower smelled, and the conditioner dispenser was empty. The main-floor hallways also had an odd smell. Breakfast was a limited selection: boiled eggs, tiny muffins, croissants, bread and English muffins, cereal, a waffle maker, coffee, and yogurt. At $160, it felt pricey for a place so far north of Toronto. Stouffville is a bit out of Toronto’s reach, but I booked because I was desperate for a room.

The staff were friendly, the room was clean, and the hotel was quiet. Breakfast had a decent range of foods, and the eating area was clean. The fridge made a noticeable whooshing sound when the TV wasn’t turned up, but unplugging it fixed that. I liked having a Roku TV and would stay here again.
