The location is very convenient, and the room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable, with no stains or bugs. The AC worked once adjusted, and the shower pressure was comfortable. WiFi was patchy but not terrible, so just be aware it may not work at full strength. There’s no room service, but Burnt Toast Cafe and a few pubs are barely a block away. Staff were very kind and happy to answer our questions. We had no trouble with an early check-in, four hours ahead of schedule, and the hotel’s current receptionist was friendly too. On our last day, we’d booked a 3 p.m. bus tour at Yukon Wildlife Reserve, where they wanted us checked in by 2:45. Since the Reserve was a half-hour drive from Whitehorse, we called a taxi at 1:55 to leave on time. After waiting 25 minutes, we got anxious, and the receptionist noticed and offered to call the taxi service for us. We thought he might know someone there and explain what was going on, but instead he called dispatch/customer service and started yelling at and berating them for being late and not communicating. We were upset with the taxi service too, but we didn’t want to be “those” customers with bad manners, and we were only two minutes away from a meltdown. We hadn’t asked him to yell at the worker on the other end. We just wanted compensation and maybe a closer driver so we wouldn’t miss the bus tour. Pick and choose your battles, sir. I’ve never felt more embarrassed.
