Sandman Signature Winnipeg Airport Hotel & Suites

Over Grey Cup weekend, the Tavern attached to the hotel was busy but the staff there were hustling, and the food was good with friendly service. My room was lovely, clean, with a comfortable bed and a fantastic shower. I even got upgraded. I had been wary after reading some poor reviews, but the front desk handled everything I asked for. I remembered to say please and thank you, and they gave me a late checkout without any fuss and held my bags until my flight later that day.

Very close to Winnipeg airport, and I'd book again. The rooms were super clean, check-in was quick, and it's a newer hotel. Just know the restaurant is run by a third-party chain, so there isn't a hotel restaurant. There are two Sandman hotels next to each other. This one is the one with the pool at the front of the building. I arrived at the end of February, and the snow outside was hard to shovel, leaving things very slippery.

The property was comfortable and very nice, but the night front desk service left us extremely disappointed. From check-in on, the staff seemed dismissive and unwelcoming. My son politely asked for a complimentary toothbrush and was treated in a way that embarrassed him. As parents, we found that upsetting. No guest, especially a child, should be made to feel ashamed over a simple request. When we tried to raise our concerns, they weren't handled respectfully or professionally. We expected hospitality as well as comfort, and the service fell short. I hope the hotel addresses this so other guests don't have the same experience.

The rooms are spacious, and the location works well if you're flying out of Richardson airport. Traffic is okay, but watch for the one-way streets. Parking can be hard to find because there isn't enough of it.
