Feels like the Cheers of Winnipeg, with staff who remember your name and your drink. The vibe is casual, the food is great, and prices are reasonable. The young bouncers are friendly, the bartenders are pretty, friendly, and good at what they do, and the regulars are a hoot. Even a total newbie can feel welcome and have a great time. I'm going back tomorrow.

The beds were really uncomfortable, and even with the radiator cranked to 80°, the room never warmed up. At $90 a night, I guess you get what you pay for. Also, there's no checkout guidance for the keys. FYI, you have to hand them to the cafe staff. The bartender was very nice when we checked in. And considering the place is connected to a bar on a Saturday night, it was surprisingly quiet.

The hotel room was awful. The beds and pillows were some of the most uncomfortable I've ever had, and the room was freezing. The air conditioner's heat didn't work, so I slept in a jacket. There's no reception, just someone working behind the counter. I can't comment on the bar, and lots of reviews seem to focus on it, but the hotel itself was the worst stay I've ever endured.
