We arrived after 6pm and couldn’t get into either the upgraded room or the one we’d originally booked because neither door code worked. The customer service line went to voicemail saying it wouldn’t open until 10 the next morning, so we had to find last-minute accommodation farther from Wolfville. The next day, the hotel replied to my check-in text. I explained what had happened, but they never answered again. We’d booked for one night on August 20th, and the confirmation email and text had come through promptly. They later called to offer an upgrade, which we accepted, and sent new confirmation messages.

The room was cool and clean, with dishes and utensils, plus a fridge and cooktop. The grocery store is just a two-minute walk away, so picking up dinner was easy. The layout works well for a couple, and there’s also a futon if you aren’t. Staff replied to email within a few hours, and having reserved parking was handy. We’re looking forward to watching the fireworks from the balcony tonight!

The customer service woman we reached after the room-code mess was helpful, and the micro boutique refunded us in full, including taxes. But the whole stay was exhausting, and I regret trusting a self-service setup after reading about double bookings. I tried the room beside it, which they’d previously said we would have, and that door opened, but people were already staying inside. Another couple told us others had run into similar problems and gave us the number to call. My new husband was worn out and frustrated, so after speaking to the helpful woman and hearing that the Wolfville manager was looking for something else for us, we asked for a full refund and went home. Every room option they offered seemed to be double-booked. We were lucky that the only other thing we’d booked that weekend was an activity with a non-refundable charge. This was Wolfville, and I don’t know about their other locations. The mix-up began before the wedding. I’d booked ahead through the app, then contacted the company to confirm, since I’d heard about double bookings, and mentioned it was our honeymoon. They kindly offered an upgrade. About a week later, just 20 minutes before I was to walk down the aisle, they called from a private number to say we’d been moved. I assumed it was the room I originally booked, but the woman said that was a small room and that we’d booked a one-bedroom suite. My bridal party heard the call, and a friend contacted them again. The room assignment changed twice, but eventually they found us a suite with a garden view, which I actually liked better. They also offered one night of free parking. After the wedding, we used the 20-minute unloading area. I hadn’t been told when the free parking applied, so we asked an older couple passing by. They said parking was arranged by email and was full that night. We thought it must be for the next night. At least the entry code worked and we got inside and up to the second floor, where the hallway smelled of weed and alcohol. The other residents, who were mostly older, were all kind.

The location in Wolfville, NS was great, and the room was clean with the things we needed. But it really is micro, and seems suited to one person or a couple. There were two of us friends and we needed separate beds, so one had to use the futon, which was very uncomfortable. We got one pillow and a blanket that looked pretty worn. The bathroom was tiny, and the shower had so many features that you practically needed instructions to use it.
