Hotel Ymir

The Trans Canada Trail is right across the street, and there are camping spots for $10.00. A great place for nature lovers. Inside, the owner's huge art collection fills the rooms and hallways so thoroughly that you can barely see the wall paint. We had the pleasure of meeting him at the bar in the evening and enjoyed a good conversation. The keeper was always around when needed, with local knowledge and good company. Thanks for the lovely stay and stories. This is a place you need to see.

The mattress wasn't very comfortable for me, but I'd definitely stay here again. The old building has a great atmosphere, and the gentleman there was friendly and accommodating. It was also neat to chat with the owner, who collected the paintings and other pieces throughout the hotel. It felt more like staying in a museum than a hotel, and I wish I'd had more time to browse the unbelievable collection of art and paintings.

The artwork in all its different forms was awe inspiring, though some of it made our young son a little uneasy, which amused us. At breakfast the next morning, Hans told us about some of the pieces. The hotel's rooms and layout felt unique, with the comforts of an old home. We toured the area in July and found the hotel quiet and comfortable. The stay at this historic place was well worth the reasonable cost. It's a little out of the way, but worth checking out.

The little town is quiet and has nice views, and the 85-year-old owner, Hans, adds to the atmosphere. There's a great bar and restaurant on the main floor. The rooms are comfortable, though the beds felt a bit hard to me. The place is so unique, more like a museum room than an ordinary hotel. There's more artwork than in most museums, with new surprises in every cubby.
