That peanut chicken is the standout, and the milkshake Jonathan makes is worth asking for. The hotel’s on the 30th floor and has only a few food options, but they’re great. It’s also ideally close to the Kinshasa-Brazzaville beach crossing and not too far from the airport.

The location is the main drawback. It’s on the edge of the city, a drive from the main area, and taxis can be hard to find, so I’d recommend getting a private driver. The rooftop rotating restaurant had great food, though breakfast was a little disappointing. The rooms are on par with anywhere in the world, and since Hilton took over, this is by far the best hotel in the city.

From high up, the nearly floor-to-ceiling windows gave me a view of Brazzaville I hadn’t seen before. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite that exceeded expectations, with a spacious bedroom, a comfortable, well-appointed living room, and a quiet office where I could work. I especially liked the large soaking tub and rainfall shower. We also had massages at the peaceful spa, and the therapist clearly knew their work. We were there for a formal event, and management worked closely with the organizers to keep things running smoothly. It was Hilton-Brazzaville’s first week after opening, so a few little things were still being sorted out. Our room didn’t have a room service menu yet, but one was brought up quickly. Some signs were missing, so I had to ask where to go a couple of times, though a helpful staff member was always nearby. Those issues were minor and dealt with quickly. The staff were patient with my beginner French, and English-speaking staff were available when I didn’t understand something. I’m glad to have Hilton-Brazzaville for visitors and as a getaway close to home.

I really enjoyed my stay, especially listening to Palina play saxophone. She’s so talented, beautiful, and kind. I’d love to hear her play again soon. Cheers to Hilton!

The rotating restaurant had very good service, and everyone was friendly and welcoming. The place has a spectacular view of the Congo River and both capitals.
