LIVINN - Self-Check-in

The location worked well for visiting Lucerne. From Arth station, take the bus to the “Aam See” stop, then it’s a minute’s walk to the hotel. Some rooms also face the lake. The place is newly built, with lots of thought put into guest comfort and small details. We liked the unusual room layouts, which were different from anywhere we’d stayed before. It’s self-service, so asking questions or getting help was extremely difficult. There’s no air-conditioning, just table fans. In the European heat, that was a struggle. We had to sleep with the balcony doors open, which let flies in and made us nervous about safety. Aside from that, it was absolutely fantastic. The breakfast server was kind and helpful, and the complimentary bistro station came in handy. There was also a washer, dryer, kitchenette, and all the soaps.

The location by the lake was great. We swam in the lake across the street, and the Italian place opposite was so good we ate there twice. The staff on site were friendly. They spoke little English, but we eventually managed to understand each other, and since I was in their country, I didn’t hold that against them. Our two-room space had an inventive layout with six beds, including upper and lower bunks that our younger kids liked. Breakfast had a good variety, and the room was clean and well organized. The hotel is modern, fun, and nicely designed, but the summer heat was hard to manage. There’s no A/C, and even on the bottom floor our bedroom was in the eighties at night in August. We all sweated and slept fitfully, and the kids struggled too. We asked for more fans because there’s no easy way to put one by the upper bunks. Of the four fans we requested, two didn’t work. I know some European countries don’t use A/C in hotels, but this cool, new property could do more to handle excessive summer heat. It feels close to making the most of its potential.

The place has been recently remodeled, with high-end finishes throughout. Check-in was easy to do yourself, everything was very clean, breakfast was great, and the view was lovely.
