Woodland Village

Sunday morning brunch at the restaurant is fabulous and exceeded our expectations. The chalets are tidy and nice, and there are pleasant walks starting right nearby. They’re fairly close to the Anzere ski resort, though the access road gets very dusty and could use asphalt.

The chalets are so close together, vertically and horizontally, that privacy is minimal. In the larger same-level units, the windows and balcony face across a 180-degree span, making it feel like living in a display window. For a short holiday with prepaid guests, some of the problems might be easier to avoid. For a longer rental, though, the low price seems to have drawn a number of residents with antisocial behavior: heavy drinking, weed, smoke, dangerous surroundings, and outdoor fires that send smoke into neighboring homes. The noisy 'festival' goes on every day until 2am. Local police don’t respond, saying there are fights somewhere nearby, while people in the region cooperate and the police simply sabotage complaints. A normal person who isn’t on drugs or drinking excessively would quickly tire of the neighbors’ behavior. It seems you can’t get a house or decent duplex in this area for such a modest price without being unsupervised by civilization. Woodland may have seemed like a good idea, but it has been badly managed and is now declining, losing its last signs of class. The earlier one-sided positive reviews seem arranged. This is an honest one.

I’ve lived here for over five years without any problems. The staff are amazing.

A lovely place to stop in the van. It’s a little expensive, but worth it, and the facilities were excellent 👌.
