Boutique Hotel OchSen

We booked two rooms while traveling with a friend and her two children, and both were spacious, very clean, and comfortable. The hotel is in a great location, and the rooms were large. It was a very nice stay, and I'd return any time I get the chance.

The place was clean, well located, and reasonably priced, and housekeeping did a great job. It feels like the hotel has been left to run itself otherwise. Self check-in worked after a few problems entering an international address in the computer's dropdown menu, though using a phone was fine. Online checkout didn't work, and it was nearly impossible to reach anyone through the listed phone numbers or email. Because I couldn't get hold of anyone, I couldn't switch the charge to a different card from the one on the original booking. Only one of the two room cards in our check-in envelope worked, and there wasn't enough soap or toilet paper, so I bought some at the Coop across the street. A little effort, probably without much cost, could improve the guest experience and still keep the price low.

There isn't anyone at reception, but the check-in process works. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was very large and nice. Rates are good, and it's about a 12-minute easy walk to the train, or you can take a direct bus. No breakfast is served, though the local coffee and bakery are delicious and friendly. A very nice tourist hotel.

This was by far the worst customer experience I've ever had. It's a shame such a wonderful property is managed by such horrible "front desk" staff. There isn't actually a front desk, and the only staff I saw during my stay were the housekeeping team, who did a wonderful job. I called about an issue with my key card and spoke to a "gentleman" who refused to give me his name. He talked over me and brushed aside the things I was concerned about. When I said that, for the first time in my life, I was going to report an employee to his supervisor or employer, he laughed out loud. I was basically in "Karen" mode.
