ART HOUSE Basel - Member of Design Hotels

I really enjoyed my four-night stay at AH Basel in October. The room was modest but clean, with fresh bedding, lovely wood floors and surfaces, and very friendly staff. The window slides open, but it's heavy and seems to block sound well, so I wasn't bothered by the bars at street level. The location worked well, a few minutes' walk from the Rathaus and close to SBB train station. Breakfast was nice and, for the price, good value compared with a street café, though Switzerland is always expensive for an Aussie. The shower and accessories were all top-notch, and I loved the late checkout. My only concern would be sharing the room with a partner, since the bathroom uses sliding Japanese screens and the toilet area doesn't feel very private. Danke!

Art House exceeded my expectations. The room had plenty of space, a comfortable bed, a large bathroom with a walk-in shower, good amenities, quality coffee and tea, a Marshall Bluetooth sound system, a big balcony, free snacks and drinks in the minibar, and two very comfortable chairs. The building felt calm, with photographic art on every floor, even though the hotel is on a lively street full of restaurants. Dinner is easy to find nearby. Breakfast is served in the rooftop bar, with lots of fresh ingredients and high quality. I travel for business often and stay in plenty of hotels, and Art House really stood out for me.

Breakfast on the sixth floor was excellent, with lots to choose from, lovely views over Basel, and a warm welcome from the staff. The Art House Hotel is right in the heart of the city, a good fit if you want to be in a lively area. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, with very comfortable beds. It can get a little noisy toward the weekend, though that's the trade-off for being so central.

We stayed one night during the Christmas markets, my husband, daughter, and I, and the hotel was wonderful. The rooms were clean, and the decor and bedding were beautiful and high quality. I'd absolutely recommend it!
