Chalet Dei Fiori - Room & Apartment

We had a delicious vegan dinner by candlelight in the apartment, and they also made tasty sandwiches for lunch. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The apartment itself is roomy and cozy, furnished with wood in a gracious mountain style. It’s in a very quiet little village where the river is about the only sound outside, and the place is silent indoors too. Highly recommended for travelers, especially vegans.

We admitted we’d booked for one person when there were two of us, and the owner adjusted the charge, which was fair. But we later found that the room was nowhere near the 55 square meters advertised on his website. It was just 17 square meters, and he has since changed the listing. Instead of apologizing or adjusting the amount for that, he wanted to throw us out and kept blaming us for the booking mistake. A previous guest called this place a “scam,” and after our experience I wouldn’t recommend it either. The “Bed & Breakfast” description is misleading too. There wasn’t even a proper cup for tea or coffee, nothing at all.

There’s no breakfast, no cooking equipment, and nowhere in the village to get food, so you can be left with nothing to eat in the morning. The chalet used to be an annex to a great hotel that was sold a few years ago. The owner kept the building and still rents it out at a pretty high nightly price, though there’s no service now. Some Google pictures show the former hotel, with things like a jacuzzi and restaurant that aren’t here. This standalone chalet setup is a shame.
