The indoor pool was a highlight, with wide mountain views and enough room to relax or do a little exercise. The sauna and steam rooms also made for a peaceful break after time in the snow. The spa facilities are thoughtfully laid out, and the hotel is right in front of the ski Lifts of Bellwald. At dinner, we particularly enjoyed the Veal Osso Buco. The menu brings Swiss flavors together with more modern cooking, alongside alpine favorites like rösti and fondue. Everything we tried was beautifully presented and tasted great, with good texture too. Desserts featured locally sourced ingredients, and there’s a thoughtfully chosen wine selection. Breakfast was less impressive, though it included fresh pastries, regional cheeses, jams, eggs, bacon, and pancakes. Both meals are served in an elegant but cozy dining room, and we felt the staff cared about quality and creativity. Hotel Zur Alten Gasse has lovely mountain scenery and warm Swiss hospitality, but the welcoming staff and the food and spa experiences stood out most to me. It’s an easy place to enjoy and a hard one to leave. If you’re after a break that feels good for body and soul, Hotel Zur Alten Gasse is a real gem.

We had a great weekend, with a beautiful view from our room, good restaurant food, and employees who were kind and helpful. The recently built hotel sits beside the ski slopes in a quiet, peaceful setting. Our room was clean and had all the comfort we needed. 👌

Summer brings some of Europe’s best bike trails right beside this special little gem. It’s next to the slopes, too, and has a lovely spa and pool, sauna, and massages. The restaurant is highly reputed, and the staff are helpful and kind. Perfect, I’ll be back soon.

The room was cozy, though the beds split apart and weren’t very comfortable. We had a great mountain view, and the small spa was nice, with a gorgeous outlook. It isn’t a full spa with treatments and everything, and there’s no real bar for having a drink. Dinner had very good choices and a nice wine selection, but breakfast was very mediocre: no fresh juice, no made-to-order dishes, and no vegetables. Service was good at both reception and the restaurant. We were upgraded to a nicer room and got a late checkout, which was a nice touch. It’s a very quiet spot in a sleepy town, right next to the ski slope and lift. Having stayed in many five-star hotels, I wouldn’t call this one five-star; I’d say 3+*. The spa and restaurant are shared with the old section, which is a 3* hotel. All in all, it was a good experience as long as you don’t expect a luxury hotel.
