Hotel Ladina

We ate at the restaurant every evening and loved the food. It was all delicious, and the breakfast was tasty too. We’d recommend trying a few of the local dishes. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The hotel is just a short walk from the main train station, in a picturesque village surrounded by mountains. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. It was a little cold because of the heating, but it wasn’t a major problem for us.

The room was cramped but clean, with wooden floors, good heating, a strong shower, and a large sink. The bed was a bit too soft for me, though some people might like it. The staff were very nice, and the location was quiet and convenient. My main concern was seeing quite a few houseflies in the restaurant, including on uncovered buffet food like the bread at breakfast. The spread had bread, cold cuts, fruit, yogurt, and milk. I didn’t see muesli or eggs, and I can’t say whether the buffet is considered extensive. Other restaurants in Bergün had some flies indoors too, though fewer. Maybe it’s seen as normal there, but a food cover would be more hygienic if possible. One day, after housekeeping had been in my room, I found a housefly sitting on the bed. They’d apparently let it in. I couldn’t get it to fly out despite trying, and eventually had to kill it. The restaurant also had few vegetarian choices and a smaller seasonal menu than other places, so between that and the flies, I ate elsewhere for my whole stay.

We had a very good dinner and enjoyed the local specialities, capuns and pizzocchetti. The food tasted excellent and was nicely presented. Capuns were our favourite, though it’s worth trying both dishes. Drinks were well priced. The meal was expensive for foreigners, but the prices seemed normal for the Swiss Alps.

The staff were fantastic and so friendly, going out of their way to make our stay special. It’s a cosy hotel in beautiful surroundings, well placed for exploring the region. I’d highly recommend it, especially if you’re travelling by train.
