Hotel Brienzerburli

The lake-view rooms are lovely, and the location is hard to beat. Our room was clean and spacious, and most of the staff were great. One woman in the breakfast area was rude and impolite, though. On two of the three mornings, croissants and a few other items had run out an hour before breakfast ended. We asked, but they weren't replenished. Having this happen repeatedly was unacceptable. Also, there is no AC or ceiling fan. We visited at the end of June and it was hot. The front desk lent us a table fan, but they seemed to have only a limited number, so keep the cooling situation in mind for a hot summer trip.

We had a fantastic stay at Brienzerburli. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and breakfast was delicious. Our apartment was roomier than expected, with comfortable beds and beautiful views over the lake. We'd highly recommend the hotel for a great experience.

The room was decent, but there was no refrigerator, which we'd have used for snacks and fruit to save money. Small extras also cost more: a fork or spoon for food we brought was 0.5-1 francs, and hot water was 3.5. At 200+ per night, I expected these things to be included. We stayed two nights in July and found out there was no AC. With the window open for cooler air, we heard the church bells all night since our room faced them. The front desk was rather rude when we asked them to check, saying this was normal in small towns. Apparently it's a debated topic in Switzerland. If you're a light sleeper or need a cool room, this place may not suit you. We also wished we'd chosen somewhere nearer the town's train station, as there are fewer restaurants at this end.

From our balcony, the views were breathtaking, and the location was central for reaching nearby attractions. The room had a rustic feel, though the bathroom could use an update. Reception was very friendly, and they spoke excellent English.
